Where we go on this Mickelson Trail Tour
Spending an afternoon pedaling a portion of the 109-mile Mickelson rail trail is a fantastic way to see the Black Hills and get off the beaten path! Gorgeous aspen groves and creeks will frame your ride, and you'll easily find some quiet and solace along the trail.
Depending on the length of desired tour, we can do from a short ride all the way up to the entire 109 mile length! For most people however, the portion of the trail from Dumont or Rochford to Hill City is a nice day's ride! This 32 to 22.5 mile portion of the trail features numerous tunnels and railroad bridges and breathtaking scenery! It does have a steady several mile climb at a very low grade, so if that's not in your vacation criteria, there's the option to do a 18 mile downhill section instead - or jump on an ebike and make this accessible to everyone.
This is a private tour with just your group or family. Your guide will ride some portions of the trail with you, and also offer sag support as they move the van along the trail to meet you at your final location.
